The Mugello, Cradle of the Renaissance

The symbolic starting point of this itinerary is the Magi Chapel in Florence’s Medici Riccardi Palace. Indeed, it seems that the green landscape Benozzo Gozzoli painted in the background of the regal procession may be the Mugello, native soil of the Medici family, members of which can be identified among the procession’s participants.

This itinerary winds through some of the most important places in this area, including the Convent of Bosco ai Frati in San Piero a Sieve, the Palazzo dei Vicari in Scarperia, and finally the Beato Angelico Museum in Vicchio. It is organized as a network in which the different cultural assets are intertwined with the promotion of those elements that characterize the natural, anthropic, historical, and artistic landscape of the whole district.
