The Prince of Dreams
“The Prince of Dreams,” the Medici arazzi (tapestries) reunited after 150 years. The exhibition was inaugurated in Rome and will arrive in Florence in September.
“Today is a good day for Italian culture and for Florence. It is also a dream come true: to see gathered together, after 150 years, the Medici tapestries is a truly extraordinary event” – said the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella during the press presentation of the exhibition “The prince of dreams. The stories of Joseph in the arazzi of Pontormo and Bronzino”.
The exhibition will be taken to three sites that are representative both of the history of the works and of the importance of the exhibition: from January 20 until April 15, 2015, the arazzi will be at the Quirinale Palace in the Salone dei Corazzieri.
From May 1, 2015, with the start of Expo 2015, the exhibition will open in the Milan Palazzo Reale, where it will be open to the millions of participants and visitors expected at the universal exhibition until August 31. It will then open from September 15, 2015 until January 31, 2016, in Florence at the Palazzo Vecchio.
